I saw there was an ongoing NESmaker gamejam with a few days left on the clock and had been playing around with a NES-themed game idea the night before, so I spent a few evenings making a pretty NES compliant game and submitted it.
"Mimi Mochi, Escape from Dokoka" is a semi puzzle platformer where the player's slime character must collect a key and reach the exit on each level, avoiding deadly spikes and enemies. The player can move left and right, but instead of the normal 'jump' ability of most platformers, the slime can charge up for a moment and release dash in a straight line in any direction until they a solid tile is hit. At higher levels of charge, the slime can even bounce, allowing for some more interesting gameplay.
The game also features some realistic NES sound effects and music. You can play the game by yourself or with a friend after downloading it for free from its page on itch.io.
Thanks to Sarah for naming the game <3.
